Ambrose Constantine Griffin/Donoghue/Westwood/Selman

Searching for Ambrose Constantine GRIFFIN. Born circa 1806 in "West of Clare". Marriage certificates of many children/relatives give his address as "Bay View House, West of Clare, Ireland". Believed to have died in 1864 in Limerick.

Married Ellen O'DONOGHUE/DONOGHUE on 8th April 1845 at "A private Residence". This is some suggestion that this may have been a second marriage for one of the parties.

Ambrose had 6 children:

PATRICK b. 1830 in Miltown Malbay, Ireland. Married Mary DALTON

ELLEN b. 1831 in Miltown Malbay. Married James WESTWOOD (his 3rd marriage) in Victoria, Australia on 29.02.1856.

CATHERINE - Married John McNICKLE in 1856 then George HEATHCOTE in 1866

MARGARET b.1842 in Miltown Malbay. Married Robert SELMAN in Victoria Australia on 29.10.1863

JOHN b.1843 in Miltown Malbay. Married Mary Ann WESTWOOD in 1866 in Victoria Australia.

FREDERICK MICHAEL b.1846 in Miltown Malbay. Married Caroline WESTWOOD on 14.02.1866 in Victoria Australia then Mary Agnes CROSBIE on 1st April 1891 in Victoria Australia. Frederick was my Great Grandfather and I can trace him back to me.

Unfortunately I think that your first post is not "my" Ambrose because of the wrong name for the wife.

Re the second post, I just don't know. Very little info in the record. As I am learning, Ambrose and Griffin are quite common combinations. I really need to find one with either the right name for the wife, or with Constantine!

But thank you - all grist to the mill; one day it may all fir together!!
