Hello from Irelandxo,
Before doihg research on this query can you let me know the religious denomination of these people.
Regards,
Paddy.
Hi Paddy, that is an excellent point!
Most of the family were Church of Ireland and for quite a few generations family members were ministers of various parishes, including Donaghmore (Rev Peter Alley I, II and III), Rev Henry Alley (Skeirke), Rev Charles Alley (Castlecomer, Gowran, the Rower), Rev Henry Baldwin Alley ( Offerlane) and Rev John Alley of somewhere in Kilkenny. These were around the 1700-1800s.
One branch of the family became Catholics- they lived around Loughill in Kilkenny. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide! Stay safe.

Hello Again Rosie,
Apologies for the delay in these turbulent Covid 19 times. Hope you have managed to stay pandemic free.
Regarding John Alley, Anna I. Alley, and Joseph Reid:
The records show that Anna I. Alley and Joseph Reid were married in 1868. Her place of residence is given as what looks like Clonin and her father is given as John Alley.
The death record for John Alley ( RIC member) shows he died in 1888 and present at death was Anna I. Reid daughter. The death occurred at Clonin. John's wife Jane died 1885,also at Clonin.
We cannot say for definite if John lived at Glenbower at some stage. The website to view the above records is: www.irishgenealogy.ie ,they are the civil records and commenced in 1864. I have glanced at them and there are many Alleys listed in them which may help to fill in some gaps in your research. Accessing John's birth record might help in solving the Glenbower conundrum . To do this involves consulting the parish registers. They are not on line but most that exist are held at the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin.
