2nd Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth Lee, born County Leitrim, Ireland 1857.

Hi all, I've been trying to trace my 2nd great- grandmother for a number of years unsuccessfully. Any help appreciated.

First Name: Elizabeth

Maiden Name: Lee

Born: County Leitrim, Ireland, 1857.

I obtained these details from the 1911 census which she filled in herself.

She married my 2nd great-grandfather Joseph Finn but again I only know this from the census as I've been unable to find any details of a marriage either in Ireland or In the UK. They had 7 children, 5 of which died quite young again I know this from the 1911 census. I only know some of the details:

Andrew born 1880, John 1885, Elizabeth 1887, Sarah Ann 1889 (1st great-grandmother).

Later generations were Catholic so I'm assuming she would have been.

Emigration: She appears on a census in Sheffield in 1881 where she settles and remains for the rest of her life. Living in the White Croft and Hollies Croft areas of Sheffield. She was widowed between 1891 and 1901 as husband is on the 1891 census but she is listed as widowed on the 1901 census. I've searched passenger records but there is no record which I assume is due to it being from Ireland to probably Liverpool and not a transatlantic migration.

Thanks again for any help.

Hi Mary

Thank you so much for this.

This could be her, the age matches up, as she would be 14 years by 1871. I've now found this census, thanks again. I'm still unable to find her marriage to Joseph Finn and I thought she must have married him in Ireland however this would disprove that theory if it is her.
