1654 Marriage James Sloss and Margery Burhannan

Inch (Donegal)

Hi Elwyn. I have a records of the Banns and Marriage record of the marriage of James Sloss and Margery Burhannon that I looked at in St. Columb's Cathedral Archives when I visited Londonderry last June. In the Banns record there is reference to their residence as Inch? in Templemore Parish which were published before the congregation at Hathon? Parish. I have been unable to locate these places on maps. Will attach record-likely I have the names wrong. Do you have any ideas as to the place names? Thank you in advance.

Marlene,

Templemore parish today is smaller than in the past. I attach a couple of links,

The Donegal Genealogy detail on Inch Island from an early account includes a line "when seven townlands were separated from the parish of Templemore"

http://donegalgenealogy.com/Inchproj.htm

Another account located where states that until 1723 Templemore parish included Burt, Inch, and Muff,

Hi Marion. Many thanks for the prompt reply. The links and info will help clear up the confusion whether Inch island was part of the Parish of Templemore or a separate parish.

Hope you were not affected by the recent storm in Ireland.

Thanks again.

Marlene,

Can't help with the parish of Hathon. That means nothing to me. It certainly doesn't exist today.

Hi Elwyn. Thank you for the info on Hathon- perhaps it was a local home or meeting house that was used for church services until a dedicated church was built.

Thanks again. Marlene
