William Moore was the son of William Moore, a Tabinet and Poplin Manufacturer. William served in the 4th (Extra Reserve) Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He married Jane Anne Hogan (date unknown) and had four children - Mary Ann (1899) Margaret Mary (1903-1980), Christina (1905-1970) & James (1914-1986). They lived in the Coombe area, Francis Street and Pimlico. In 1911 census they are living in Merchants Quay.

The family moved to Glasgow, Scotland sometime between 1911 and 1923.
