William McGinnis was born about 1815 and left when he was about 16. He always listed Antrim as his home/place of birth. In his Iowa biography he states his parents were John and Esther and that he had 6 siblings. I have found no Irish record for him or his family yet.

Irish press warns against Jamaican Indentured Servitude

The theme was always the same: the pestilential climate of the island, the reduction of poor emigrants to slaves, the severity and cruelty of the planters (and planter-dominated Assembly clinging to every vestige of oppression) and, of course, the absence of priests and chapels.
