The Lanes came from Ballynamuck (sometimes spelled Bally-na-moche), parish of Murragh (known then as Moragh) in West County Cork. It is located a few kilometres southwest of the Anglo-Irish town of Bandon.

William Lane married Maria Julia Gibbon in Co. Cork and emigrated to New Brunswick, Canada in 1822. His son James Tweedy Lane was my Great-Grandfather, married to Mary Francis Sweeney, my Great-Grandmother.
