William Armstrong emigrated to Canada after his father George, elder brother John George and elder sister Eleanor Elizabeth all died. He left one sister, Martha Maud Irwin, nee Armstrong (known as Maude) in Northern Ireland with her husband John and four children.
County Armagh, or Ard Mhacha in Irish, is located in the north-east of Ireland. It is known as the "Orchard County" because of its many apple orchards.
