Walter Thistle (d.1773) of Carrowbeg, Benburb, Co Tyrone (civil parish of Clonfeacle) appears on record in the Index of Wills in the Diocese and District Registry of ARMAGH. Religion COI (later Presbyterian / Baptist).

Robert Thistle (d.1758) and William Thistle (d.1767) also appear on record here for Carrowbeg aka Corrybeg.

In 1797 only a John Thristle (Thistle) appears in the Flaxgrowers List for the parish of Clonfeacle. This is likely John & Anne Thistle of Knocknacloy, Benburb, Co Tyrone.

The adjoining townlands of Carrowbeg & Knocknacloy represent a Thistle family stronghold that endured well into the 20th century.
