Stuart Boyd Connolly migrated to UK (unknown date). He married Ada Cadman in Blackpool on 1 Sep 1875. They lived around suburbs of Manchester. He was a Cotton merchant (cloth). He died in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire on 11 Apr 1909.
Father was Charles Connolly of BallyDonelly, Rasharkin, Antrim (from SBC marriage cert; Father found in Griffiths)
Mother was Mary Stuart (from Death cert of his brother in NZ)
SBC had three children:
Harry Stuart Connolly (17 May 1876 -> 16 Jul 1948). Harry married Sarah Helena Mary Dixon (8Jan1888->27Dec1978). They had 7 children
Marion Connolly (4 Feb 1880 -> 28 Apr 1972). Marion married Sir Frederick Painter (18Dec1844->9Jun1926). They had no children (he was a confirmed bachelor; marriage was convenient for him; he needed a wife on his arm for Sherriff of London position)
Ada Connolly (20Aug1884->31Oct1914). She did not marry, nor did she have any children.
Stuart Boyd had a brother William John Connolly(Abt 1844->27 Mar 1902) who migrated to New Zealand in 1862 (dairy farmer and owned a quarry in Auckland-- Three Kings)
Spelling in NZ varies considerably: CONLEY, CONLAY, CONNELLY, CONNOLLY, seemed to settle about 1877 on CONELLY.
WJC had 13 children, 2 died as infants, one age 23 in a quarry accident, 9 of remaining 10 married, 8 of them had children, 31 grandchildren.
Year of birth as 1836 for SBC is very much an estimate. Using ages from 1909 death, and 1881, 1891, 1901 censuses, there is no conclusive year of birth (he may not have known accurately).
Starting to add details to WikiTree.. It will likely be permanent record of this family
