Stephen francis Neary born circa 1830 in Drum mayo. died september 29, 1896 Palmerston NZ. He was a soldier in the 57th regiment (diehards) he seved in india , middle east and malta. also in 99th regiment in 1856. arrived in NZ  1851? for the waikato wars. was discharged in 1867. in aukland.. His parents were thomas and  margaret.  he married ann Meehan of stockport england in 1849
