Samuel Vantz testified at the Wawayanda Patent hearings which began May 19,1785 and, under oath, stated he was born 01 August 1703, and had lived in America for 55 years at Warwick, New York. (Source: "Proceedings to Determine Boundaries of the Wawayanda and Cheesecocks Patents Held in 1785 at Yelverton's Barn, Chester", page 2, From Official Record in Orange County Clerk's Office, Goshen, Orange Co., NY, 1915, Independent Republican Printing Co., Orange County Genealogical Society, Goshen, NY).
The above would make Samuel's immigration date to America about 1730, age at 27. Since the Vance's were Scotch-Irish, it is probable that he emigrated from Ireland. The Clinton party from Longford County, Ireland traveled to America in 1730 and it is possible that Samuel was part of this group, however, as many Vance's are listed as living in the the northern Irish counties of Antrim and Down, it is also possible that he emigrated from this area.
After 02 January and before 09 March 1793, Samuel died. His will was probated on 09 March 1793 in Orange County, NY.
