DR. BABINGTON’S LECTURE ON THE TOWN OF COLERAINE

Picture the scene….it is approaching Christmas day 168 years ago. On a cold winters evening the people of Coleraine and surrounding areas packed out the Town Hall. They were there to hear a lecture by Dr. Babington, his subject being, “The Town of Coleraine”. Dr. Babington tells of an often-forgotten history of the town and its inhabitants from ancient times to the present (being 1852). A wonderful insight into the life and times of the people who lived in Coleraine.
Dr. Babington’s lecture was recorded and printed in the Coleraine Chronicle dated 18th December 1852.
