Owen and his twin sister Bridget were the last two children born to Mary Egan and her husband, Owen Connally. They were the youngest of at least 12 children and at the time of their birth the family reportedly was living at Clonco, part of the Burke estate on land that had been leased by Thomas Connally around 1750. When their father died in 1847, Owen's older siblings took care of their farm until 1854 when Mary, Owen, Bridget, and their brother John arrived in America and settled in Troy, New York, where members of the Connally family, including myself, still reside today.
