Hello, I have been trying to find out the names of my great grandfather's parents since the year 2000 and I still have had no luck even though I have gotten closer. My great grandfather was John J Leary born in 1851 in Milford New Hampshire. I found his family on a census from 1860 in Dorset Bennington Vermont. His mother was listed as Mary and the last name was spelt wrong as Lara I knew it was them because all the sibling names and dates and ages fit and Johns information said he was nine years old in 1860 and born in New Hampshire so that fit perfectly. His mother was listed as 38 years old and a widow. I suspect that her husband's name would've been Daniel, possibly John but Daniel is a very strong family name. And my mother's grandfather who was John J Larry told her that at some point they let the "O run down the hill" so the name originally was O'Leary making it even harder to find any information.

Being stuck on this one part for 25 years has been hard in every avenue I find ends up a dead end. If anybody has any advice they could lend me I would sure appreciate it.

I put 01-01- before the 1822 for mary but I'm not sure of the month or day just the year and it could've been 1821 to 1823 depending on when the census was done because the 1860 census listed her as 38 years old. Her oldest daughter Mary who was 16 at the time was also born in Ireland and that would've made her born in the year 1844.

Thank you so much, Lois Martin
