Mary Elizabeth (Brophy) O'Meara was born in Roscrea, County Tipperary in 1827. She immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was a young girl and first lived in Illinois. Mary married Patrick Joseph O'Meara in Canton, Illinois.

The family later settled in Utah. Mr. and Mrs. O'Meara had six children. Their oldest son was Carroll T. O'Meara [1855-1897].Three of their other children were sons, Michael John O'Meara [1859-1910], and William Patrick O'Meara [1860-1950], and daughter, Miss Frances Elizabeth O'Meara [1862-1933].

Mrs.O'Meara's husband, Patrick O'Meara, born 17 Mar 1813 in Roscrea, County, Tipperary, died 11 March 1902 in Los Angeles, California.

Mrs. O'Meara died 12 November 1903 at the age of 76. She was buried in the Catholic "Mt. Calvary Cemetery" in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
