William Murphy married Elizabeth "Eliza" Collins and they had seven children, including a set of twins. The twins were born on February 2, 1876, in Islandbrack City, in the Civil Parish of Kilmeen, in the County of Cork. The twins were named Timothy and Johanna Murphy, and the remaining children were named David John Murphy, Hanora "Nora" Murphy, Hellena "Ellen" Mary Murphy, William Murphy, and Hannah Maria Murphy. They resided in or near Boherbue at the time of the twin's birth. William was a farmer and Eliza was not employed outside the home, per the 1901 Census for County Cork. They were of Roman Catholic faith. Willliam and Elizabeth are my 4th great grandparents and Johanna is my 3rd great grandmother. The birth record of the twins indicates that their church was in Kilmeen, and from Islandbrack, it is over an hour by car, which was not in existence in 1876, therefore I am wondering if some of the information on the birth record may have been incorrect, or it is correct and they just had a long way to travel to get to and from church. Will continue to research and verify this information.
I am only just beginning my research on this branch of the family tree and this is the first family I have researched from that branch and still have much more research to do.
**one area of concern is that I have Johanna listed as the mother of Stephen Cayton but he was born in 1847, so this would not work. Need to see if this Johanna fits along this branch elsewhere because there are too many coincidences between these two families for them not to be related. I will keep searching.
