David Greer emigrated from County Antrim to South Carolina (USA) ~1789. He probably landed at Charleston, SC. He brought his wife, Mary McCombs and likely two children, Eleanor and Daniel. He was probably a farmer in Ireland. https://www.newspapers.com/image/73825411/?fcfToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJmcmVlLXZpZXctaWQiOjczODI1NDExLCJpYXQiOjE3NjMwNDU5NzYsImV4cCI6MTc2MzEzMjM3Nn0.O-iTvJIFxyFqDl7-tKFekfQ5wJOJif_g3Bv7arwV7t4
He was the first settler of Honea Path, SC. Mary McCombs died in ~1801. He outlived three wives, passing away in 1855. He left a large estate.
The memorial (pictured in Find-a-Grave lists his birth year 1750. The 1840 and 1850 censuses put his birth year as between 1750 and 1760. After his passing, his daughter (Eleanor, my 4th g-grandmother) took the family to court because she felt that she should have gotten a larger share of his estate. In the court transcripts, a neighbor testified that David said that if he lived to 1855, he would be 100 years old.
