John, son of Joel and Mary (Church) Brigham, born in Marlboro, Massachusetts, 16 April 1758; died in Chadwick Bay, New York, 20 August 1828; married, in 1779-80, Abigail, daughter of James and Abigail (Ward) Williams of Marlboro and Rutland, Vermont, born 26 February 1764; died in Chadwick Bay the next day after her husband, and they were interred in one grave at Fredonia, New York.

He was a soldier in the wars of 1775 and 1812. In 1790 he moved to Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, and in 1795 to Madison, New York., and in 1808 to Chadwick Bay, where he took up a tract of wild land, built a log house and opened a farm. A principal street, leading out of Dunkirk village and first opened by him, bears his name. He was a highly respected and honored citizen.
