Migrated to/Born in Australia

According to William Henry's death certificate he was born in 1819 to John leahy and johanna Barry in Castlemartyr Cork. No birth records can be sourced currently. He married Mary Catherine Morgan in Youghal on 13/7/1841 and emigrated on the ship Himalaya to Melbourne Victoria arriving on 26th February 1842 as bounty immigrants. Mary is born circa 1820 and her father is listed on the marriage certificate as Robert Morgan.

William had a brother Thomas Leahy who also emigrated at some stage to Melbourne and his death certificate places his birth circa 1832. He died on 6/4/1874 in Melbourne and had been resident in Australia for 14 years placing his emigration around 1850. he married briudget lynch in Richmond Melbourne 1861. They wree both from Cork. Unfrtnately Thomas death and marriage certificaet just lists Cork ireland and not a specific site for his birth.

Both William and Thomas's documents have their father John Leahy's occupation as steward which could be a land steward and if so if it was in 1819 he may well have been managing the lands of Richard Boyle 3rd Earl of shannon or the Dukes of Devonshire in Youghal.

I have tried seraching Barry's for this area and they are a more common surname in 1851 than leahy's. Its a bit like searching for Smiths in England.

If anyone has hints on how I can unlock this family history I would be grateful to hear your thoughts.

Regards

Viv

Looking for these 2 in Cork and for their parents has turned up nothing. My best guess is the Leahy's originate from this atrea of Cork and not as some family histories have John from Emrick /Imphrick. That is but a guess.
