Migrated to/Born in USA

John Lynch and his wife Catharine Hyde migrated to the USA through New Castle, New York City on April 17, 1847. They lived in Auburn, Cayuga, New York as found on the 1850-1860 US Censuses. They relocated to Hammond, St Croix, Wisconsin, as found on the 1870 US Census and stayed there until their deaths.

Catharine's mother, Johanna Hyde (maiden name Reddane) was listed on the passenger list with John and Catharine.

No death certificate is available for John. Not found in Hammond Courthouse or on microfilm at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Often his death date is shown in family trees as 1886, but that death certificate is for his grandson, "Johnnie," age 11.

John and Catharine were married in Castlelyons, Cloyne Parish, Cork County, Ireland, on February 18, 1841. It is possible John may have been married previously, as he was 39 when he married Catharine. John and Catharine had 2 children, John W and Mary, both born in Auburn, NY.
