Martin McMahon is my Great (x2) Grandfather. His parents were Thomas McMahon and Maria (Mary) Curtin.
Martin was the eldest of 5 children all baptised at Doora Kilraghtis, Co Clare, Ireland between 1824 and 1836
Martin was baptised at Doora Kilraghtis on 4 November 1824.
Martin married Mary Anne Frawley in Co Clare, Ireland.
- There is some contention about Mary Anne's surname. Some records show her as Farrelly, Farley and Frawley.
- After due consideration we settled on Frawley.
Martin and Mary Anne migrated to Australia on the Ship "Chance". Departed Liverpool on 6 Jun 1857. Arrived Belfast, (Port Fairy) Victoria on 12 September 1857.
Their first child, Catherine was born at Tower Hill in Victoria,1 month after their landing in Australia.
Between 1857 and 1879 Martin & Mary Anne had another 10 children at Tower Hill, Kirkstall and Killarney in Victoria, Australia.
