William Gannon

William and his wife, Margaret Walsh were both born in Ireland (county unknown), and presumably married in Ireland. The family was Catholic. They had several children born in Ireland: Bridget (“Lizzie”), Patrick and Mary (twins?), Margaret, Ann and John. According to the England Census of 1861, Margaret was a widow at that time and had emigrated to Carlisle, England with her children (Bridget, Patrick, Mary, Ann, Margaret, John). Bridget, Patrick, Mary and Ann married spouses in Carlisle and subsequently emigrated to New Bedford, Bristol, Massachusetts. The whereabouts of Margaret and John cannot yet be determined; further research is needed.
