Migrated to/Born in Australia

My 3 x great grandfather, William Fitzgerald, arrived in Adelaide, Australia 31st July 1846 on ship, Canton with wife Mary (Murphy?) and son John. Mary died in December . He then married Catherine Kelly on 9th Mary 1847 at St Patrick's Catholic church, Adelaide by Fr Mick Ryan. William's son John died on 9th July 1847. He and Catherine arrived in Victoria between then and 1848 where their first daughter Catherine was born 11th April 1848. He went to the Victorian goldfields in the early 1850s with two of his children born there. Cannot find any record for his death in Victoria. We believe he was originally from Cork in Ireland but not sure.
