My first try on this site. James Swanick is my first relative to come over from Ireland to New York (town of Saratoga Springs) in about 1851 with his family, consisting of his wife, six sons and a daughter. They had left Ireland in 1847 but due to family illness got waylaid in Liverpool, settling for several years to build up enough money for the journey.

We know from the obituaries of two of his sons that they were born in Carrowjames, County Mayo but I don't find James or his wife's obituaries (Anne Welsh 1808-1890).

I have a couple of other branches of the family but this is the only one for which I've found enough documentation to trace across to Ireland.

Quite an adventure finding these relatives!
