Abbie arrived in the US at the port of New York on October 13, 1849, on the ship Guy Mannering. She arrived with her sister (17 y/o) Margaret, a small boy of 4 named Patrick - I’m unsure how he is related, and who I assume to be her grandmother, age abt 60 yrs, Ellen Fallon. Also on the ship is a Daniel Fallon who may be related, but that is not confirmed. I have been unable to find anything of the family before leaving Ireland, but the timing makes me believe, due to the dire conditions in County Mayo at the time, that they left due to the famine.

The family ended up in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, joining up with other family.

Abbie married Jeremiah Ford, who was from County Cork, and they had two sons and six daughters, one of whom was Margaret (named for Abbie’s sister) who was my great great grandmother.

Abbie lived to be 59 years old, and died of Stomach Cancer and Exhaustion. She is buried at Cavalry Catholic Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio.
