Sarah Doherty, sometimes known as Sarah Ann Doherty was born in 1837 in County Clare according to shipping records to Western Australia in 1856.  Sarah arrived on Bride Ship 'City of Bristol' and was married in 1857 to William Hill/Hills.

Her life in Western Australia is documented through her children with husband William.  Marriage to William states her fathers name and occupation as James Doherty, shoemaker/bootmaker.

One local book by the name of 'Gingin' by Hazel Udell states Sarah father James worked at a local farm 'Millbank' for the Edwards family.  However no documented evidence can be found to confirm this.

The only documented source prior to this that has been found is of her coming to Western Australia age 18 years as a servant, with her place of birth being listed as County Clare, Ireland.
