Rose Hanley or Hanlon was born circa 1839 in Co. Tyrone, possibly Dromore. She arrived on the 'bride ship' Emma Eugenia in the Swan River Colony (now Perth, Western Australia) in 1858. Her father was Bernard Hanlon/Hanley. She married Patrick Slattery in 1859. Rose's sister Margaret migrated to Boston, possibly with their parents. There are a large number of DNA matches to Hanley descendants in the Massachussets area, indicating that the broader Hanley family migrated there in the 1850s and 1860s.Most of their Hanley ancestors came from the Dromore area or Longfield West in Tyrone.
