Migrated to/Born in Australia

Michael Patton was born about 1844, in County Donegal, Ireland, in the Raphoe / Stranorlar area.  At the age of 8 years he migrated to Australia on board the "Kate" with his parents James and Anne (nee Callan) Patton and siblings John and Catherine, arriving on 16 October 1852.

He married Christina McKellar in the Roman Catholic Church, Warrnambool, Victora Australia, on 16 April 1873.  They had 10 children - Archibald, Lillias, Anne Callan, Christine, Neil, John, James, Thomas, Hugh, Michael. Only Neil and James were married, and only James had living issue. Archibald, Lillias and Michael all died young.  Thomas was a teacher and talented cricketer who died on 9 August 1915 in Malta of wounds received at Gallipoli, Turkey.  Hugh came home from WW1, but died of an accidental gunshot wound at Yerong Creek NSW on 18 July 1928. Anne (known as Gran by James's children) and Christine (known as Auntie) raised their siblings after both parents died young.

Michael Patton died at the age of 46 years on 5 April 1890 after a fall from a horse. He was buried at Terang, Victoria.
