Michael Higgins was born sometime on or before 24 Feb 1842, which is the date he was baptized. His parents were Denis and Julia (Lyons) Higgins. They are from Youghal, County Cork.

Michael married Elizabeth Cogan in Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, the USA on 29 Nov 1866.

They had five children. Their youngest, Thomas F. Higgins was my great grandfather. He was born on 3 Apr 1878 in Everett, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
