Joined 39 Regiment 1809 in Inver.  Posted to Spain, then 1812 regiment posted to N America.  Discharged ill-health co. Tipperary 1823.  Married Hannah Brick there same time.  Family in Bolton, Lancs 1841 Census but Matthew absent.  Next record of Lancaster Assizes 1845 when found guilty of rape in Bolton and transported on 'Malcolm Arnold' to Norfolk Island (part of Van Diemen's Land penal colony). Penal colony record online. Appears to hav ebeen released 1860s and may have remarried.  No clear record of death (name match but not to DoB which itself may have been inacurate (gave age of 15 in order to sign up in 1809 so may have been contrived).  Intrigue is a Matthew Harvet with wife Susannah witnessed marriages of two grandsons in Bolton in 1875 - no British context before or after of a Matthew Harvey in England)
