Martin Connolly was born circa 1872 in Kinvara, County Galway, Ireland, to Patrick Connolly and Mary Kelly. His baptism is recorded in the Kinvara Catholic parish registers (NLI Microfilm 02442/14).

At age 25, Martin emigrated from Queenstown (Cobh) aboard the Teutonic, arriving at Ellis Island, New York, on 15 April 1897. He settled in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut, where he married Mary (maiden name uncertain).

Together, Martin and Mary raised several children: Joseph Patrick Connolly (b. 1910, Connecticut), William Connolly, John Connolly, and Martin Connolly Jr. U.S. Census records from 1910 and 1920 confirm the family’s residence in Stamford.

Joseph Patrick Connolly, Martin’s eldest, went on to serve with the U.S. Army in World War II, fighting in North Africa against Rommel and later in Italy. After the war, Joseph became an accomplished radiologist.
