John Walsh married Isabella Hicks on 2 Jan 1834 in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada. She was born in 1807 in County Westmeath, Ireland. He seems to have been the earliest of this family to arrive in Canada. Another John Walsh, named Sr, preceded him.

Richard Walsh married another Irish immigrant in Bearbrook in 1838: Eleanor Moffatt, daughter of Samuel Moffatt and Mary Connor, born 8 Mar 1818 in Ireland. They settled in Bearbrook that same year. Alice Walsh died in Ireland 18 06 1815.

Letitia Walsh married James Murphy in Ireland. They arrived in Bearbrook, On, in 1840. Robert Walsh married Mary Tanner in Ireland in 1841. They arrived in Bearbrook in 1848 with his mother, Letitia (nee Hewitt) Walsh.

Eliza Walsh married another Irish immigrant, John Moffatt, son of Samuel Moffatt and Mary Connor, in 1843 in Cumberland Township, Ontario. He was born 14 Feb 1820 in Ireland. Mary Ann Walsh married James Leitch in Ireland. She died there in 1849.

Between 1937 and 1939, primary school pupils across the Republic of Ireland interviewed the elderly in their neighborhood to collect and record local stories and folklore from the 19th century. "The Schools Collection" as it became known is held by the Dúchas Folklore Collection in UCD and is and has been digitized online at duchas.ie. One of the topics schoolchildren were asked to write about were "Travelling Folk" or An Lucht Siúil.

Here is a selection of what "settled" children wrote about travelers in the late 1930s.
