I am seeking information on my great great grandfather John McKernan. He was born in approx 1800, location unknown in Ireland, emigrated to Lancashire, Manchester, England and there married Julia Lanigan on 19 August 1838. He died and was buried 20 April 1871 at St. Michael`s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Metropolitan Borough of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England; PLOT Section: PAT Row: M Plot: 32.
His wife, Julia Lanigan, was born in 1815 and was christened 1 March 1815 in County Tipperary. I suspect (or am wishfully hoping!) that they knew one another before emigrating to England and marrying there (but I don't know this).
