John Heaton was born about 1808 in County Offaly and was likely from either the Tisaron and Galen parish or Clonmacnoise parish. He married Margaret Guinan and they immigrated to Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in the 1840s.
Co. Offaly, or Uíbh Fhailí in Irish, was once known as King's County. It is in the midlands region of Ireland with the River Shannon defining its western border. We are home to Birr Castle and Moneygall, which is the ancestral home of President Obama. Our county town is Tullamore and we have a population of approximately 78,003. We look forward to helping you connect with your ancestors’ place of origin.
