The Battle of Aughrim

The Battle of Aughrim was the bloodiest battle ever fought on Irish soil. It took place on the 22nd of July, 1691 and was the penultimate stand of the Jacobite forces in Ireland.

Please Note: Some sources mark the date of the Battle of Aughrim as July 12th 1691. This is due to a change in the calendar in the 18th century. The 22nd of July is the modern day equivalent of July 12th in 1691.
