Johanna/Hannah emigrated to the USA c1854 according to US census records. She married James Andrews on 22 November 1870 in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois, USA. Shortly after marriage, James and Hannah moved to Clinton County Iowa where they lived until 1893/4. They lived in Miller, Hand County, South Dakota, USA from 1893/4 until 1897. In 1897 the family moved to Beresford, Lincoln County, South Dakota, USA. Hannah lived in Emmet, Union County, South Dakota, USA (very near Beresford) at the end of her life.

James and Hannah had eight children:

John (1871-1876), Mary Ellen "Nellie" (1873-1954), James Michael (1874-1947), Margaret Ann "Maggie" (1876-1941), Elizabeth M "Lizzie" (1878-1970), Joseph P (1991-1892), Johanna Frances "Anna" (1884-1970), and Catherine Bridget "Katie" (1888-1974).
