James Power from Broughal married Anne Killeen (Killian, Killion) from Clonbonniff.  They married in Ferbane 10/15/1829 and had eight children in Broughal, Ireland.  They immigrated to the United States, arriving in New York from Liverpool 9/13/1847 on the Izaak Walton. Their ninth child was born in Clifton Park NY and their tenth was born in Frostburg, Maryland, US, where the family settled and were good friends with the Shea family.

Their children were Catherine (born 23 Apr 1831), Thomas (born 22 Aug 1833), Margaret (born 06 Oct 1834), Maryann (born 12 Mar 1837), John (born 22 Sep 1839), Ellen (born 06 Mar 1842), James (born 13 Jun 1844), Ann (born 08 Jul 1846), Elizabeth (born 1849), and Francis (born 1853).

James' father was Thomas Power (born about 1780).  Neither James' father Thomas nor James' son Thomas was on the ship to America with the rest of the family.  James' father Thomas and possible brothers Richard and Patrick were tenants of Sir Nicholas Fitzsimon of Broughal Castle, townland Castlewood, in the Tithe Applotment Book.

Broughal and Clonbonniff are both in County Offaly, formerly King's County.
