May have been a Bookbinder as John Foley his son that came to NZ in 1860 was also a Bookbinder and one of his sons was a Compositor for the Dunedin (NZ) printers.

Royal University of Ireland founded
<p>In accordance with the University Education (Ireland) Act 1879, The Royal University of Ireland was founded as an examining and degree-awarding university (based on the model of the University of London).
