James was born around 1811. He married Letitia Murray( Murry) in Eglish in 1846. They had a daughter, Margaret baptised in 1847 in Birr. We don't know if they are from this area or not. They emigrated to the U.S. around 1849-50.
Co. Offaly, or Uíbh Fhailí in Irish, was once known as King's County. It is in the midlands region of Ireland with the River Shannon defining its western border. We are home to Birr Castle and Moneygall, which is the ancestral home of President Obama. Our county town is Tullamore and we have a population of approximately 78,003.
