James Conaghan is believed to have been born in Losset, Donegal in 1851. He died in Greymouth, New Zealand on 28 May 1920. His parents are recorded on his death certificate as James Conaghan (Farmer) and Mary O'Donnell. James Conaghan appears to have emigrated from Ireland to Australia (Sydney or Melbourne) about 1878-1880. He then went on to the goldfields in New Zealand in 1882 or 1883. He was granted a mining claim at Kumara on the West Coast of New Zealand on 30 June 1883. On 21 August 1888 James Conaghan married Catherine Rochford in Greymouth, New Zealand. Catherine was born in New Zealand on 20 July 1869 but her parents (Nicholas Rochford and Mary Ann Cooke) were both born and married in Dublin, Ireland (24 May 1857, St Michan's) before emigrating to NZ.
I am interested in any information about his parents James Conaghan (Farmer) and Mary O'Donnell or any siblings or cousins.
