I know very little about my Irish ancestors:
Hugh McShane had a daughter (Sarah McShane) born 1811 in Ballynascreen, County Londonderry.
Sarah married Teretii Rice - they had a son (Hugh Rice) born 1834 in Hobart Australia,
Hugh Rice is my great grandfather, he died 1912 in Invercargill New Zealand.
Co. Derry, also known as Londonderry or Doire in Irish, is one of the six counties in Northern Ireland. Derry is famous for its old intact city walls which surround the old city and also for the pretty Sperrin Mountains and Lough Neagh. We have a population of approximately 247,132. We look forward to helping you connect with your ancestors’ place of origin.

Our aim is to connect all people with a link to Ballynascreen (Derry). You may live here, have visited here or maybe are tracing ancestors who left long ago. In any case, we’re sure to have lots to share and are delighted to welcome you.
