Elizabeth O’Malley (1770–1840)  of Newcastle was a direct descendant of Gráinne Mhaol [Granuaile] aka Grace O'Malley (c.1530 – c.1603) and, through her, Owen O'Malley of Burrishoole (c1650-1738). Her family is remembered in the roofless side chapel at Murrisk Abbey.

In the winter of 1798, she married John Irwin Esq. (1762-1842) and raised a family at Camlin House, Ballinameen, Co. Roscommon.

His infant son (John Irwin Jr) inherited the Camlin estate.
