Eliza Jane was born around 1811-1812 according to most available Canadian census records for her. She married Alexander McConnell (born Scotland about 1812) in 1833, according to the earliest record I have for her, the Canadian census of 1861. Their older children were all born in Co. Derry.  One son,  William, married Mary Anderson--and according to her family oral tradition--the two families were neighbors in Ireland. Mary's parents were Richard Anderson and Mary Carmichael from Kilrea.

A Workman researcher has identified Eliza's parents as Robert Workman and Sarah McCauthy.

Settlement records in Canada (with DNA support) have enabled me to identify a number of Workman siblings who were nearby in 1861. They were William (b. abt 1806, Derry) who married Betsy Sim (30 Dec 1831 / Wm Workman, Bovedy Congr. / s/o _Workman / Tamlaghe, Kilnacrieve / Elizabeth Simms, Kilrea Congr. / d/o _ Simms & Mary Millar / Dromlane H. W. Rodgers / wit: H. Taylor, Jas Stewart, Thos Woods.); Charlotte (b. abt 1811) who married James Stewart (note from a fellow researcher: "BTW, James and Charlotte are married before Apr 11, 1829, probably 1st Kilrea, as that is when they were first confirmed and Charlotte is documented as 'Charlotte Stewart from Killymuck'"); Sarah (b abt. 1815) m. John Logan; Matilda (b. 24 May 1917--according to the 1901 census of Canada) m Huston Madden (b. abt 1815 Co. Antrim--oldest child Nancy b. N. Ireland  22 Sep 1838--again, 1901 census); Isabella (b. abt 1820) m James Campbell (Co. Derry, abt 1906).

This is all I have connecting them to Ireland.  I've done Y-DNA on the McConnell line; I've traced the only two matches back to Co. Antrim  around 1800-1820; one of them also has records in Ayrshire--but I've been unable to find an actual ancestor who closes the link.

Birth information on any of the older McConnell children would be extremely welcome. (Robert abt 1834; James, abt 1840; William, abt 1841; Alex, 18 Feb 1843--1901 census again; or Sarah Jane, abt 1845. Their youngest was born in Ontario; records differ whether 1848 or 1852.

I would also welcome any Irish records about any of the Workman siblings, and/or information about their parents. All tidbits welcome.  (FWIW, I'm a fair dab at finding Canadian records...when they exist. This particular family settled in Mountain Tp, Dundas Co, and the next twp north, Osgoode, in Carleton/Russell Co, depending on the year. This particular family settled in Mountain Tp, Dundas Co, and the next twp north, Osgoode, in Carleton/Russell Co, depending on the year.)

TIA.
