Migrated to/Born in Australia

Elizabeth Farley was my great great grandmother who immigrated from Ireland arriving in Melbourne March 1 1857. According to the ship passenger list (Herald of the Morning) could both read and write was RC aged 20 and was indentured to Mrs Irving of Flemington for four month @ 30 Shillings. She was a housemaid from Armagh. Apart from her death I have a good picture of her life in Australia but cannot trace any pre-immigration life. I suspect she may have had relatives in or around the Beaufort Goldfields, but cannot establish any connections. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone was able to assist.

Ireland beats Italy at USA94 World Cup

On this day the Giants Stadium at New Jersey was a sea of Irish tricolours and the scene of great jubilation as Ireland's soccer team beat Italy for the first time. Italy was a favourite to win the tournament and it was expected that they "would play Ireland off the pitch". For Ireland, it was the most glorious outcome imaginable.
