Does anyone have any information on the McHale family of Toneybane. They lived in 11 cottages near the end of the racecourse on the Mount Falcon estate. Their cottages were levelled and my great great grandfather Ned McHale ( born 1821) left with his wife Margaret McNulty and family for Liverpool and later Wrexham in 1845. Ned's sister Bridget McHale (born 1805) left with her husband Patt Devitt (born 1798). Ned's other siblings were Kitty McHale (born 1795), Peter McHale (born 1811), John McHale (born 1813), and Owen McHale ( born 1823). This family definitely lived in Toneybane/Tonybaun not in Tavnaghmore and left for Liverpool and Wrexham in 1845. Any information on what happened in this little hamlet and to the dwellings and families there would be very much appreciated.

    Kildavnet Freeholders List

A unique Census Substitute for the townland of Carrickkildavnet aka Kildavnet in 1829. This Freeholders List can provide useful information about those who held enough land to register to vote. While the smaller tenant farmers who suffered most during the Great Famine won't appear on this list, there may be a few surprises included here (that didn't appear on Tithe applotment records). These could be partners on a freehold lease. Can you find your ancestor's name below?
