Daniel Murray born in Ireland 1807, settled in Clarion Co., Pennsylvania about 1831. Married to Margaret Everett. He died in Clarion Co. in 1874. He worked in the coal mines. His son James Murray was my g-grandfather. Daniel's original tombstone indicated he was of the Methodist faith. DNA anaylsis suggests his family was from Northern Ireland. I welcome any and all inqueries. Jim Drummond

Irish press warns against Jamaican Indentured Servitude

The theme was always the same: the pestilential climate of the island, the reduction of poor emigrants to slaves, the severity and cruelty of the planters (and planter-dominated Assembly clinging to every vestige of oppression) and, of course, the absence of priests and chapels.
