Daniel was the son of Nicholas Hannon and Catherine Manning. He was among the youngest of 14 sons, having a twin brother named James. The Hannon family lived on Turboy Road in Tuam.
Daniel married Marie LeBeller September 11, 1910 in Valley Stream, New York. They had three children together, Marie, Daniel, who died of polio, and Gerard.
Daniel died of complications following an accident on July 20, 1942.
