Arthur was born circa 1811 in Cullenagh probably to William Kennedy (Ballyshonock) and Joanna Coughlan (Cullenagh). He was probably named after his maternal grandfather (Arthur Coughlan). The earliest record of Arthur is his marriage to Catherine Keyes (1841) in Kildorrery. His issue were John Owen Kennedy (1842 Cullenagh-1929 Brisbane, Australia), Johanna O'Keeffe (1845 Cullenagh-1925 QLD), Margaret Kennedy (1848 Cullenagh-Unknown), Mary Ann Horrigan (circa 1859 Kilclooney?-1931 Brisbane), and Arthur Kennedy Junior (1859 Kilclooney-Unknown). Mary Horrigan was listed in the Australian records as a child of Arthur Kennedy and Catherine Keyes, but no baptism? Arthur Jr. was found on Roots Ireland. He is found in Valuation records for Kilclooney, in Tithe Applotment Books, and in Land Records for Cullenagh, and later Kilclooney. There is a large gap between Margaret and Mary/Arthur; is there a missing child? Arthur died in 1891 of old age in Kilclooney. His wife post-deceased him in 1892. His brother-in-law, Maurice Keyes, was a US Army veteran from the civil war, who returned to Ireland in his old age to live with Catherine and Arthur. He died in 1893. There is no grave of Arthur, Catherine, or Maurice; they might have been too poor to afford a marked grave. Most of Arthur's descendants live in Australia (Where John, Johanna and Mary moved). These include the Kennedys, McGuires, Rohans, Horrigans, and O'Keeffes.
