Roman Catholic. A widow, was transported from Kingston Harbour, Dublin, County Donegal to Sydney, Australia, for stealing poultry, sentenced on the 31st of December 1838 for 7 years. Convict Indent No.380-35  44. Son John Colquhoun was sentenced for receiving. Embarked on the 18th of February 1839. Suffered catarrh on board the ship Whitby from 26th February until cured by the 10th of March by Mr. Kidd the surgeon general. She, like the other women, was expected to sew on route and was supplied with patchwork, needles, black & white thread, tape, pins, scissors & a bodkin. Also she was given knitting cotton & knitting needles. For clothing she received 2 jackets, 2 linen shifts, 2 pairs of stockings, 2 handherchiefs, 2 caps, 1 pr of shoes, & 2 petticoats. The convicts were also supplied with 2 linen towels, a coarse apron, a bag, a comb, & a bag "with things".

Anne was 5' 2 1/4",complexion ruddy & freckled, hair brown mixed with grey, eyes brown. She was RC. Anne could read only & was a house servant with no prior convictions. Lived Brisbane Water, NSW at time of last marriage. Her last husband Edward Moran believed her to be 46 years old at time of marriage to him.  However was already 60 during transportation in 1839.  Or 46 according to Dublin Castle records at time of sentencing in Ireland in 1838.  The Whitby arrived in Sydney on the 23rd of June 1839.  Anne Moran was a Farmer's wife at time of death 21 Jul 1862. Her death certificate is difficult to read, but Anne's mother's maiden name was supposed to be either Earl, or Yeovil, & her maiden name Murray. [I"m not sure if Edward who couldn't read or write, was confused by the question of Anne's maiden name.] Undertaker: James Conroy. Witness: Thomas Humphreys. Husband, Irish ex-convict Edward Moran from county Cork, registered her death on 28th July 1862 signing with his mark.
